What was the purpose of medical examanations and testing on jews?

My question was what was the purpose of medical experimentation's and testing on Jews? 'The medical checkup took place outside , early in the morning before three doctors outside on a bench"(Wiesel 48). I chose this passage because the things that the Nazi doctors did to these jews were horrible, and i wanted to know if there was actually a purpose for them.

With these testings and examinations, when they would first arrive to the camps they would need to be examinated. The stronger ones would go on to do backbreaking manual labor while the weaker ones were exterminated right off the batt. There would be other procedures where the jews had no free will in the matter such as sterilization in the form of x-ray. Another example is of twin children. they would literally sew them together to see what would happen. There are also countless other procedures that were inflicted upon the jews, and it really seem to serve no real purpose to the outside world. The only possible one was that if they were trying to create different drugs they would obviously test it on them to see the concequences and reactions of it.

  1. I thought it was very cruel that the Germans at the camps would just burn the weaker Jews right away. You would think that they would be able to do some other sort of useful work that was not physical labor. I also wonder what they were trying to achieve with those other medical experimanets. Maybe the Germans had a bigger idea then just unuasual and cruel experiments. The Germans seemed relentless and they were going to do anything they could on the Jews.

  2. i wanted to know the answer to this question even before i started reading this novel. i always wonder what they were trying to accomplish by doing this. a while ago i saw a film that worked on the same process. they would operate on live patients and sell their organs for money. sounds gross, and it is but it does happen. these people had to endure the most of gruesome tortures. its gets hard to read sometimes.
