Section 4

My question is how do victiums in the holocaust deal with their situation? "From the depths of the mirror a corpse was contemplating me. The look in his eyes as he gazed at me has never left me" (Wiesel 115). i picked this question because obviously surviors of the holocaust are traumatized, and i would like to know what exactly happens to them.
Many of the survivors who come out of the holocaust are obviously traumatized. they develop a form of depression called PTSD. some of the systems include images from the times of that particular experience, in this case the time of nazi germany and the final solution program of the holocaust. Children are more common to act out against the parents, and parents develop symtoms such as guilt and draw away from the children. Also adults feel that they experiencfeelings such as the need to escape reality, hide, or save others.

Section 3: what is kaddish?

My question is what is kaddish? i am asking that because in this section of the book it is mentioned often and i was kind of confused in what context they were saying and why it is of the up most religious importance. "And three days after we left, we forgot to say Kaddish" (Wiesel 77).  there is such a great loss in this book, and the fact that they just don't even bother to remember the many people that have been exterminated by the Nazi's in this holocaust is very sad. it almost seems as if everyone's morale is so low that they don't even care anymore.
Kaddish is a holy prayer for services in Judaism. the main point of this service is to signify gods name. there are different types of kaddishes, but the most well known one is the mourners kaddish. it is said to mourn the loss of people.

What was the purpose of medical examanations and testing on jews?

My question was what was the purpose of medical experimentation's and testing on Jews? 'The medical checkup took place outside , early in the morning before three doctors outside on a bench"(Wiesel 48). I chose this passage because the things that the Nazi doctors did to these jews were horrible, and i wanted to know if there was actually a purpose for them.

With these testings and examinations, when they would first arrive to the camps they would need to be examinated. The stronger ones would go on to do backbreaking manual labor while the weaker ones were exterminated right off the batt. There would be other procedures where the jews had no free will in the matter such as sterilization in the form of x-ray. Another example is of twin children. they would literally sew them together to see what would happen. There are also countless other procedures that were inflicted upon the jews, and it really seem to serve no real purpose to the outside world. The only possible one was that if they were trying to create different drugs they would obviously test it on them to see the concequences and reactions of it.

Section 1: What is a ghetto?

My question was what is a ghetto? "Then came the ghettos. Two ghettos were created in Sighet" (Wiesel 11). I wanted to learn more about it because in night when they first heard about them, no one was really afraid; and I wanted to know why. based on my findings I think that they should have been afraid.
A ghetto is a city district where jews were forced to live under horrible conditions. These were first established in the 16th and 17th centuries by the venetians, where they forced jews to live; but was then used again by the germans in order to segragate the jews from the non jewish population. There are three main types of ghettos: an open, closed, and destruction ghettos. At these ghettos when they were living under horrific conditions the jews had to preform forced labor, and would be killed for basically no reason if they disobeyed in any way shape or form. These ghettos help the nazi's keep control over the jews.
